Katherine Canepa

"Hola. My full name is Katherine Elizabeth Canepa Palomino and I was born in Lima on February 17, 1982. I attribute my skills to the art workshops we had in school.

"I've always loved yarns and knitting. Once I went to Cuzco to visit my boyfriend and during the trip I began to knit myself a shawl. By the time I arrived in that beautiful land of the Inca, it was finished. My boyfriend had a small shop in Cuzco and he suggested I display it there, as it turned out very well. But as soon as I put it on display, someone wanted to buy it. That was exciting! And I realized that my hands were at a standstill although I'd always loved weaving, knitting and crocheting my own clothing. Why not bring this art to others who could enjoy it?

"My textile arts are fascinating; I'm passionate about them. From every piece, I learn something as the days go by and I'll use this in the new designs that constantly come to mind. I want them to show the beauty of this lovely country and share it through a noble means.

"Each one of my designs carries in it my effort and dedication. I hope you can feel my love when you wear them."
