"I think an artist or designer is creative by birth. Then it is up to the individual to process that talent. My design aesthetics are my own and, over the years, I've matured as a designer.
"I design for the woman of today, striking a balance between the conventional and the traditional. My silhouettes are very flattering and feminine, and embellishments add a glamour quotient. Every garment I create is an extension of myself.
"I'm Chhavvi Aggarwal and I was born in India's bustling capital on April 3, 1984. Since my mother designed children's wear, clothing was something that always inspired me. So I went to the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to brush up my skills in designing, majoring in fashion design and clothing technology (FDCT).
"This gave me a technical knowledge of garment construction, but I feel creativity is something within an individual – an institution cannot teach one to be creative. I was ready to put mine into practice so, after college in 2005, I started designing on my own. I work with a team of ten collaborators, including my master pattern cutter, tailors, and hand-embroiderers.
"My clothes are highly influenced by Indian culture and Indian fabrics. Beadwork in different styles adds an ethnic Indian touch. My designs enhance the beauty that exists in every woman. Each piece is specially designed and a lot of hard work and brainstorming goes into these beautiful pieces.
"I practice artistic yoga regularly, as it gives me mental peace. I also do a lot of meditation, it helps me rejuvenate. In today's day and age with our hectic schedules, yoga gives me the energy and direction to carry on.
"My clothes have been presented at fashion shows and exhibitions in Delhi and Bombay, and my garments have also been sent to South Africa and Dubai."
