Mixing African influences, natural beauty, sensuality, multiculturalism and multiple beliefs, Julia's style translates into Brazilian authenticity.
After undertaking extensive studies on the influence of African cultures in Brazil, Julia's designs reflect the blend of races and cultures that have established in Brazil. As such, she combines ancestral African fashions with contemporary trends.
Julia's mission is to have every piece reveal, complete and exalt the identity, joy, strength, differences and similarities that exist within the peoples of Brazil:
baianos, cariocas, pernambucanos, paranaenses, mineiros, acreanos, brasilienses, alagoanos, etc.
Julia took it upon herself to research the symbols that embellished her childhood, which turned out to be African. "Somehow, this African heritage had left a mark on my mother," Julia recalls. "Then I decided to investigate what other elements form a part of the Brazilian culture, which lead to a book project,
The African in Us – African-Brazilian Digital Fonts. I designed digital fonts, which I created on the computer for printing."
Julia's collection is born out of a desire to awaken Brazilian culture and its origins, as well as to celebrate Brazilian identity. As a student of classical ballet and different traditional rhythms, Julia translates harmony and movement through her designs, which in turn transmit Brazilian musicality.
Julia has worked as a designer for marketing campaigns, has done photographic essays, and has even designed sceneries for shows. Now Julia's attention is turned to projects of social inclusion through fashion, and she is regarded as an entrepreneur promoting Afro-Brazilian causes. She is focused on increasing her studies on African influence on Brazilian culture through the creation of her exclusive designs and prints. Julia is an extemporal and conceptual Brazilian designer.
