"I'm Pipatporn Pueninintasri, born on January 12, 1978. My sister and I grew up in a warm traditional family environment that includes my relatives. However, we were not financially well-off, so I studied and worked to help my parents.
"I studied Marketing and held several jobs, but I didn't like the routine it implied, and that it didn't allow me much time to look after my parents. Most importantly, I realized that I missed weaving silk, for you see, I come from a village renowned for its weaves.
"I love my hometown's silk legacy, and I wish it to prosper and survive the passing of time, so with my experience in Marketing I came to the conclusion I should work on modern designs. I have no formal training in Art, but along with friends, we got working.
"Quitting a stable job and steady income for something unpredictable was quite a challenge for me. It took a lot of courage, but I'm usually a positive thinker so I just had to pursue my dream. I believed I could do it because I am a very determined person.
"Luckily for me, my family supported my decision. As customers expressed admiration for my work, my parents became prouder, and I felt encouraged to continue. I am proud to contribute to the preservation of one of Thailand's oldest traditions. Thai silk is very beautiful, just as Thai people are.
"I love each and every one of my designs, and when I see them transformed into silk, I feel alive. My inspiration comes from my surroundings, my observations, and other people's suggestions too. I usually consult friends and family when I come up with a new design, and if they like it, I go ahead.
"My other wish was to showcase my work abroad, and now through Novica it's coming true."
