"Images often grow from my Buddhist practice and love of Buddhist art, which can directly convey to the beholder feelings of stillness, kindness, and compassion."
"Joy and work are synonymous in my life. I work with amazing images, people and materials in one of the richest creative atmospheres in the world. What I love most is to bring pleasure to people through what I create, to everyone who sees or buys it, and to all of us involved in the creation.
"The awakening to 'this is how it should be' happened in 1969, when with a degree in art from the University of Wisconsin, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and it was time to find a 'job.' As a 'job' takes most of one's time in life, I realized it should be something I loved and wanted to continue to learn about. So, for the next 15 years, beginning during what was called 'The Food Revolution' in Berkeley, I was a chef, with a palette for an infinite variety of tastes, textures, colors, and temperatures.
"On my free time I would retreat California's North Coast and eventually built a solar, owner-built home in the forests of Mendocino county. Fantastically beautiful and rewarding, but one cold winter wet firewood drove me to pack and fly to Bali, where I found one of the richest creative atmosphere in the world and a whole new palette of materials opened to me.
"For the past 15 years I have been traveling through South East Asia, living in Bali and designing in stone and wood. Images often grow out of my Buddhist practice and love of Buddhist art, which can directly convey to the beholder feelings of stillness, kindness, and compassion. It opens us to our true nature, thus transmitting without words the heart of the Buddha's teachings. Many forms of great art, simple or complex, reflect something greater in us and the forms of Buddhism are some of the most interesting to me.
"In my experience, we get so busy with our contemporary lives, it is helpful to have images and objects around us that remind us that there is another way to be. And to be gentle with ourselves. I find a number of my Buddhas appear to be relaxing more than usual!
"I also design in fabric, inspired by the forms of Japan and the fabrics and colors of Bali. And I am working on photographs on fabric.
"I am following the dreams of my grandmother who wanted to be able to immerse herself in her art, which was painting on silk. And I am following the dreams of my yachtsman father, I am spending the rest of my life on a tropical island: mine having the most wonderful people to work with and infinite creative possibilities to explore."
I love my Jizo the protector statue which now resides in its place of honor in my garden. I wanted the statue since Jizo is the protector of unborn babies and I lost three before finally giving birth to my beloved Sarah Cassandra last March (a week before her birth I came down with a rare illness, HELLP syndrome (an extreme form of eclampsia) that gave me a stroke and put me in a coma. I emerged from the coma after three weeks and am making an excellent recovery, working on mostly short-term memory issues but blessedly NOT on a walker or crutches as the doctors feared. I participate in a zen meditation group on a weekly basis and feel so blessed to have come through the worst of this health crisis. I tell baby Sarah that she lived in heaven, looked down from her home in the clouds, saw a man and a woman who were so sad because they couldn't have a baby that she said, ""I want to go down there and make them a family."" (Unfortunately the clumsy stork dropped her on mommy's head!) Thanks again for your beautiful sculpture. I will treasure it always. Sincerely, Lisa
I purchased the 'Bali Meadow' Batik robe as a gift for my wife, and she was absolutely stunned with it. The robe arrived faster than I expected, wrapped in a beautiful bag, with handwritten note from Viktoria. The robe was exactly as described on the website, the fabric was nice and soft and the pattern print of superb quality. I highly recommend Viktoria's work. Thank you!
I am so proud to own the Midnight Rose robe. It looks and feels good. There are only two small things that would make it better - 1) loops for the belt and 2) pockets. But these are minor. I highly recommend this product and artist.
Received my ""Earth Dancer"" kimono yesterday. PLEASE NOTE: based on this picture I thought the robe would be quite pink/purple. It is distinctively rust-coloured, and the ferns are blue-white. I love it all the same, but wanted others to know there could be a wide difference between their screen colours and the actual colour of the robe. Absolutely beautiful, and I like that there are no loops so I can belt it as high or low as I like. Perfectly sewn, lived up to my expectations. Thank you Viktoria!
Dear Viktoria, The kimono of Orchids came today. It has a beautiful combination of colors and made me feel beautiful and elegant. Thank you for making me feel like the Lady of the Manor with its lovely lines and understated beauty.
Thank you Viktoria for your beautiful kimonos! They arrived quickly and were beautifully presented in lovely bags with a personal note. They are beautifully made, look gorgeous on and are very comfortable. I am often too busy and distracted to write reviews, but I really wanted to thank you for this exceptional offering. I have been wanting a kimono for ages and am completely delighted with my new 'Midnight Rose' and 'Relax' kimonos. I will definitely keep these in mind for gifts in the future!
I ordered the ""Rushing River"" robe and must say it is impeccably made. The cotton is high quality, the print is beautiful and I couldn't be happier. Thank you!
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Viktoria's robe, ""Rushing River"" is magical; it truly does flow with blues and violets and I grabbed it and threw it on me as soon as it came in the mail. I am not ashamed to say that I look very hard on Novica for the most beautiful cotton batik robes I can find and do not hesitate to buy immediately when I do because each of these is a treasure. The cotton is densely and finely-woven and the design subtle, yet distinctive. The seams are detailed with flat-felled stitching, the mark of exquisite finishing and as with the best robes of this type, the garment stands off from the body just a little to distinguish it from lesser fabric blends. Do not miss the opportunity to purchase one of these beautiful robes. You will be investing is something that you will wear with pride for many years.
Viktoria, All I can say about the robe ""Relax' is GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS!! i had to come and write this review as soon as I opened the robe and tried it on because I was so excited about the robe's beauty and your creativity in designing and the detail of the batik. I went back and forth about which robe to buy, and the weight of this fabric is great for the area I am in which is near the Pittsburgh area. I want to try another fabric and design soon. Your life sounds so exciting and for someone like me whose life is not so exciting, I am able to grasp a little bit of that through your work. Thank you so very much and good luck to you.
I absolutely love my ""Rushing River"" robe. The design and colors are beautiful. It takes me to another place.
I adore my Viktoria ""Rushing River"" robe! The colors are beautiful shades of blues, mauves, and purples, and are very flattering. This batik robe is all cotton, which I prefer to the rayon fabric. The size is ample and luxurious, and very spa-like. The wrap kimono style is very easy to wear, and there is a long belt to cinch in to fit. The sleeves are unique and so chic. I think these robes are collector items. I wore this robe as a swimsuit cover-up to the pool, and received many compliments. These are not just après shower! I just ordered another Viktoria batik robe in this same style, but in red. The robe also comes wrapped in a beautiful cloth bag. A great gift idea, too.
Victoria, I received your beautifully made ""Batik Jacket - Javanese Chocolate"". It is a stunning work of art that not only looks good on, but is extremely lightweight and comfortable. The fabric drawstring bag is also very pretty and I will put it to good use. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Best regards from Melbourne, Australia.
The Indigo Garden jacket has become my new favorite piece! It goes great with a sleeveless black modal dress I bought from Novica a few years ago. I love the color and the fit! Thank you!

FINDING YOUR SIZE
Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.
BUST / CHEST
Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.
Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.
Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.
Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.
Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.
Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.
Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.
