"Hello, my name is Mohammed Javed Ahmed, I was born and raised in Varanasi - a lovely place where tradition and modernity meet. My family has been involved in the art of traditional weaving for many years now. New designs and patterns have evolved over the years, but the traditional style has always reigned.
"I have been involved in this art of traditional weaving for about four years now. Being brought up in a very traditional atmosphere, my mind has always been focused towards this profession. After I completed my Tenth Standard at school, I began following in my father's footsteps.
"We make all kinds of Varanasi silken items such as bedspreads, saris, cushion covers, stoles, scarves, etc., and over the years our family has acclaimed much success. Our products have been showcased in various exhibitions in Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur as well as in many places here in Varanasi itself.
"The technique of weaving is very complicate one, laborious, and time consuming. It needs a lot of attention just for the fact that every single thread has to be well maintained. We work with a team of about 25 artisans. Each person is given different responsibility and this is how we work - united and with dedication.
"This relationship with Novica has really brightened up my vision for a better opportunity. I thank Novica for giving me a chance to present our talents to people the world over."
